My lab will focus on different aspects of seed dormancy regulation in Arabidopsis thaliana. Seed dormancy is an ability of plants not to germinate even though the conditions are favorable. This allows  seeds to ignore short episodes of favorable condition that would not last long enough to support whole plant life cycle.
Seed dormancy is therefore subject to strong selection and in Arabidopsis thaliana, Delay of Germination 1 (DOG1) gene has been selected by nature to align the dormancy strength with local conditions.
We study different aspects of DOG1 regulation including regulation by a non-protein coding antisense transcript.

My lab is located in the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics in Warsaw, Poland.
